Dreamhack Summer 2012 Rules for Dota 2 — Qualifiers

Ruleset
Attendance and communication

Idle in #dh.dota2 (IRC: quakenet) atleast one hour before the qualifier starts. If this is not done, your team may lose the spot to another team. If you know you that this is impossible, contact admins beforehand and it can be worked through.

All scheduling will happen through IRC, in the channel #dh.dota2. If you don’t know how to operate IRC, we suggest you use http://webchat.quakenet.org during the time of the qualifier.
Use your teamname as the nickname or atleast add the teamtag in front of your regular nickname.

Connection

Host game by selecting “Practice Game” and setting a password for the lobby. The other team can join the game by filtering by passwords. Select Server: Europe (unless other server is decided)

Behaviour

Flaming and bad-mouthing is not allowed. No offensive nicknames are allowed.

Choosing sides

If there is an issue, the winner of a “coin toss” gets to decide either if they want to choose
first pick /second pick, or
Radiant / Dire

The other team (who didn’t win the coin toss) decides the other factor.
Map-set

The version to play is the current Tournament Version. Only spectators greenlighted by Dreamhack-admins are allowed (such as streamers, referees)
The mode is Captains Mode. There are no restrictions in terms of heroes or items.

Disconnects, pauses and crashes

Pausing is not allowed during picks unless the captain disconnects.
If the game crashes during the picks, the game will be remade and the same picks will be picked.
Players have rights to pause the game if needed. Be sure to announce the pause in all-chat a few seconds before if not an emergency.
The reason for the pause must be reasonable. Both teams must agree on resuming before resuming the game.
If a player disconnects, the player’s team should pause the game right away.

Pooling: Rules about sharing items

You can buy or give following items to a teammate:
Scroll of Teleportation
Healing Salve
Clarity Potion
Tango
Smoke of Deceit
Dust of Appearance
Observer Ward
Sentry Ward
It is allowed to share passive regeneration items (such as ring of health, void stone, etc). Bottle is allowed to share as well, but you may not buy it for another player.
You may never sell an item that has been given to you from an ally.
Admins got the final word regarding what counts as pooling and what doesn’t.

Bugs and glitches

You are not allowed to use bugs or glitches in the game for your advantage. Each team is responsible to know about bugs that may effect the game. You can read more about bugs on the official bug forum dev.dota2.com

If bugs are used intentionally to your advantage, the team will be disqualified from the current event.
If a game-breaking bug occur, you should pause the game, and contact an admin.
If the bug is noticeable for both teams and no pause is made, and admins aren’t contacted until the end of the game – the game result stands.

Game end

The game is over when either team’s Ancient Fortress is destroyed or when a team forfeits and disconnects from the game.

Admin is God

Rules can be changed during the tournament if admins consider it necessary. Admins will always have the final word. Note that rules can be changed with out prior notice
