Blizzard Entertainment & DreamHack bring Europe’s best players to Ericsson Globe for the StarCraft® II World Championship Series Europe Finals

The eSports phenomenon is coming to the Swedish national indoor arena, Ericsson Globe, on September 15-16 with what promises to be an amazing show. Europe’s best StarCraft II players will compete for $60,000 USD in front of thousands of fans at the StarCraft® II World Championship Series Europe Finals. The show is co-presented by Blizzard and DreamHack and will bring world-class eSports entertainment to the audience in the arena and to those watching the free live stream in HD at home. Tickets go on sale Monday July 30.

Today we’re very proud to announce that the StarCraft II World Championship Series will return to Sweden on September 15-16, when DreamHack and Blizzard host the Europe Finals at Ericsson Globe in Stockholm. Ericsson Globe is Sweden’s national indoor arena and one of the biggest venues of its type in Scandinavia, with a seating capacity of 13,850. It’s been the stage for numerous world and European championships in other sports including ice hockey, basketball, and handball, and is also the largest spherical building in the world. Blizzard’s StarCraft II World Championship Series has been touring Europe since May at numerous national final events. Now, 32 of the best European players are getting ready to fight for the grand prize: only nine of them can go on to the StarCraft II World Championship Series Global Finals in Shanghai, China on November 17-18.

“DreamHack has been 100% determined to make eSports a spectator sport, accessible and enjoyable for everyone. In addition to the tournament and the stage show, there will be numerous activities on-site including in-house BarCraft, a merchandise store, special DreamHack and Blizzard activities, and a lot more exciting stuff going on over both days. [WCS] Nordic Nationals – Tournament schedule and streams

This Saturday, July 28, it’s StarCraft II World Championship Series Nordic Nationals at Annexet, Stockholm. Here’s the tournament schedule and the streaming information.

At 10.00 we’re opening the doors to Nordic Nationals at Annexet, Stockholm. First matches starts directly at 10 and the continue to be played in Tournament Area. At 14.30 we start the first game on stage. In addition to the tournament and the stage show you can also play Heart of the Swarm, enjoy food & beverage in the EsportBar and meet other StarCraft-fans.

The Stage Show will kick off with the National Final for Norway, Denmark and Finland. Each Final is played best of three, but since it’s Double elimination – one of the finalist coming from Looser bracket need to win two best of 3-sets. After that we move on with the Swedish tournament and play the last 5 matches on stage including the Winner bracket Final, Looser bracket final, Consolation final and Grand Final. The last match, the Swedish Grand Final starts at 22.30.

All matches on stage are casted by professional casters Shaun ‘Apollo’ Clark and Manuel ‘Grubby’ Schenkhuizen. Your host will be Geoff ‘iNcontroL’ Robinson. Everything is broadcasted for free in HD (720p) at www.dreamhack.tv – thanks to Twitch.TV. The official Swedish stream is also produced by DreamHack and will be available for free at www.aftonbladet.se with the two Swedish casters Tom ‘Endarspire’ Bramler and Marcel ‘Maven’ Mattsson.

DreamHack is producing both streams and the show will feature interviews with the players, DreamHacks new and improved video overlay and profesional in-game observing by Michael ‘Adebisi’ Van Driel.

In addition to that we’ll have three co-produced streams in Norwegian (SC2.no), Finnish (Sett.fi) and Danish (Esport Danmark) in order to cover all the matches being played in those Nationals. DreamHack will also have additional english community streams for the Swedish tournament for the matches not broadcasted on the official streams.

DreamHack Bucharest to feature Counter-Strike 1.6

At DreamHack Bucharest 20-21st of October DreamHack will host a the fourth stop in DreamHack EIZO Open StarCraft II tournament series. But DreamHack Eastern Europe partner PGL will also host a additional tournament in Counter-Strike 1.6 with 10 000 euro’s in the prize pool.

The biggest game in Romania and Eastern Europe will make an appearance during DreamHack Bucharest. As previously announced, the event will take place on 20-21 October, in a newly established location called Turbohalle (www.turbohalle.ro), situated in the western part of Bucharest.

Besides the 18.000 EURO EIZO Open Starcraft2 tournament, the Bucharest event will also feature a 10.000 EURO Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament. The event will be an international one, featuring 16 teams, with 8 teams invited and 8 teams coming from online qualifiers. The details of the event will follow in the next weeks, including registration, accommodation and visa requirements.

This Summers big eSports event in Stockholm will assembly the best StarCraft II competitors from the Nordic region. They have fought through competitions and online tournaments to reach the StarCraft II World Championship Series Nordic Nationals. StarCraft II’s next expansion, Heart of the Swarm, will be playable at the Nordic Nationals on July 28. This is only the second time in Europe – and the first time in the Nordic countries – it’s available for the public to play!

Blizzard and DreamHack are hosting the StarCraft II World Championship Series Nordic Nationals on July 28 at Annexet, Stockholm in Sweden. For the very first time, a Swedish, Finnish, Danish or Norwegian player will be crowned StarCraft II’s Nordic champion. The best competitors from each country will be fighting for $30,000 in cash prizes and slots at the Europe Finals.
